Martha & Kyle – Newcastle, WA

Martha and Kyle first met in a Spanish class at San Diego State University. They first started studying together then slowly became friends and shortly thereafter, girlfriend and boyfriend. Martha was born in Mazatlan, Mexico and Kyle was born in Renton, WA. They now live in Newcastle, WA.

Kyle says, “I knew absolutely nothing about diamonds, engagement rings and the selection process. The one thing I was sure about was that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Martha!”

After a close friend at work casually mentioned that her husband had a wonderful experience at EE Robbins, Kyle decided to start the research process. “I went to every engagement ring store from San Diego to Bellevue asking every question I could think of. One gloomy January afternoon I walked into the Bellevue EE Robbins store and was greeted by Jackie O’Keefe. She was very patient answering all my novice questions. We looked at every setting, style, color, size that EE Robbins had in their shiny displays. After getting Martha’s ring size and a few small hints on the style of ring Martha was eyeing, I decided to select a Simon G round center stone with a cushion halo design.”

During a recent family trip to Maui, Hawaii, Martha was astonished by the true beauty of Maui. “In June 2011 Martha and I returned to the Ka’anapali area for a more intimate week of relaxation on Maui. On a calm afternoon on western Maui, Martha and I went to a local grocery store to purchase picnic items in search of a secluded beach to enjoy the afternoon…or so Martha thought! About four miles north of Kapalua, down a dirt road and short hike down a bluff, we found the perfect beach with not another person in sight.

We enjoyed some fresh local pineapple and went for a short walk taking in the natural beauty that Maui has to offer. When the moment was right, Kyle got down on one knee and asked Martha if she’d marry him, in Spanish. She said yes, and they’ve been thrilled ever since that moment.  “We will cherish it forever.”

Martha and Kyle both enjoy traveling to new places and experiencing different cultures. They both enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. They are passionate about playing tennis, golfing, hiking and biking during their free time.

“Thanks to Jackie and EE Robbins, it was a breeze making one of the most daunting and important purchases a person can ever make.”  After recently returning to EE Robbins to select their wedding bands, Martha commented “I’m so happy with my ring, I haven’t seen another design that I’d rather have!”

They are planning each detail for their wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on April 9th, 2012.
