Erin & Scott from Bothell, WA
How they met: Erin and Scott’s brothers were good friends growing up and playing football, so they knew each other casually since elementary school. The courting started when their brothers’ high school football team travelled for a game in Clarkston, WA. The parents and family members rented a bus to travel to the game. Erin and Scott sat next to each other, talking and laughing the entire trip. The rest is history.
“When I set out to purchase an engagement ring for my girlfriend Erin, I was dumbfounded on where to begin. Questions started to pour into my brain. Where do I start? Do I buy it online? Should I go to a store? This was going to be one of the most important purchases in my life, so I wanted to be absolutely sure to find the perfect engagement ring. While Erin had dropped a couple of hints on what kind of ring she preferred, I was in the dark as far as diamond knowledge. With that in mind, I cautiously visited a few retailers in the area. I had first heard of EE Robbins on the radio, and I remember the advertisement proclaiming it as “the engagement ring store”. My first stop was the Bellevue store and I felt anxious as I walked to the door. I was greeted promptly by Tony, was offered refreshments, and began to speak with him about my girlfriend and our relationship. Tony really went out of his way to get to know me first before any rings were brought out. All this showed me how EE Robbins is in the business of building relationships with customers first and foremost, and not just selling rings. Tony then dove into the necessary diamond ring knowledge for me to make the best choice for my girlfriend. I knew I wanted to purchase a white gold band with a princess cut diamond. Tony brought out a few choices at different price points and I had the opportunity to look at each diamond under a microscope as well as natural daylight, when Tony took me outside the store to look at each diamond. I ended up choosing what I thought was the perfect diamond, but I didn’t want to pull the trigger yet, as I wanted to visit other retailers and see what other options were out there. And was that a waste of my time. I went to two other retailers, Shane Company and Tiffany and Company. Neither came close to the service experience I received from Tony at EE Robbins. I raced back to EE Robbins, bought the perfect diamond engagement ring, and two years later my wife and I still visit the store to visit with Tony.”
Your engagement moment: “Every fourth of July is spent at Erin’s cabin at Newman Lake with many family members. After I had asked Erin’s parents for their blessing and support to ask Erin to marry me, I thought of no better time and place to propose than at Newman Lake on the fourth of July. So on July 4, 2008, with everybody in on the secret, I had taken Erin on a canoe ride out to a little island in the middle of the lake, got down on a knee, showed her the perfect princess cut diamond ring, and asked her to marry me. Erin was taken completely by surprise and after she said yes, we took the canoe back to the family dock where a picnic was set up by her family and we all celebrated together.
