Amy and Andres from Seattle, WA
Amy and Andres met at a work event in October, 2007. Andres lived in Denver at the time, but soon moved to Seattle to take a job at company headquarters. Amy always said that she would never date someone that she worked with but, “his charm was too much and we’ve been together ever since!”
Andres proposed on June 16th, 2010 (his birthday) while we were in Jamaica to attend a wedding. Even though we had been together almost 3 years, he was the type of person who always told people he just wasn’t ready to get married, so it was a huge surprise. After a great dinner at the resort and a walk along the beach, we went to our room to sit on the deck watch the ocean. I asked him if he had a good birthday and he said that he did but that he wanted one more thing. He got down on his knee and told me he loved me and that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me!
He had already discussed it with my parents and when they asked him if he had a ring picked out, he said no because he knew that I would want to help pick out my own engagement ring. So they gave him my great grandmother’s ring to propose with. Of course I said yes right away! I was so surprised and excited and finally stopped crying. I think I was still a little in shock when I said, “I’m going to have a husband!” He looked at me and said, “And that husband’s going to be ME!”
When we got back from Jamaica, I was excited to start ring shopping right away but the US men’s soccer team was playing in the world cup that morning (we are both huge sports fans). I knew he was serious about being ready to get married when he suggested that we go to EE Robbins DURING the soccer game! Lucky for him when we got there, the staff happily turned the game on so we could watch as we looked at rings.
I had an idea what I wanted but Tony patiently showed us tons of styles. They ordered more cushion cut diamonds so that I would have even more to choose from. It was so fun! We finally landed on an elegant engagement ring with a beautiful 1.5 carat cushion cut diamond. When it came time for the wedding band, they crafted a band that matched my engagement ring perfectly! We couldn’t have been happier with the service we got. (Plus, they give my husband cookies and soda every time we go back to have it cleaned.)
We were married in the beautiful Holy Names Academy chapel on April 16, 2011 and honeymooned in Bora Bora. We live in Seattle with our black lab puppy named Chola (she turned 1 on April 1!) We love to cook, travel, attend sporting events, watch home improvement shows on HGTV and are always taking on some new home or garden project. And we think the world of the great people at EE Robbins!
